Who would you rather have at Center for next year: Yao or Howard?

Howard. He is a freak athlete that absolutely dominates the interior. When he's not blocking shots, he's altering them and inhaling every rebound in the vicinity. Plus, he runs the floor much better and is equally suited to playing transition defense as well as in the halfcourt. His offense and free throw shooting are still shaky, but he is still young and has plenty of time to improve at the line and develop a more refined repertoire offensively. With his youth, he is a better investment in that he will be around a lot longer. I personally think Yao is somewhat overrated. He is way too soft, is injury prone, and a liability in transition defense.
